Peak Sports & Spine Free Injury Screening
WHAT IS A FREE INJURY SCREEN?
A free injury screen is a relatively short (10 minutes), face-to-face assessment with a physical therapist (PT) or physical therapist assistant (PTA). The goal is to find out why you are not able to optimally move or function on the tennis court or in everyday life activities the way you would like to. Patients do not have to have an acute injury or surgical history to take advantage of a free injury screen. Many people just want to know how to “feel better”. Anything that keeps you from functioning at 100% can be considered an injury.
When participants arrive at a free injury screen appointment, they will fill out a short medical history form prior to the exam. A PT or PTA will then start examining the area(s) in question or that are known to be injured. After the exam, the PT or PTA will either prescribe a set of safe exercises or stretches to begin recovery or recommend a visit to the participant’s primary medical practitioner or a sports/orthopedic specialist.
To register for a free injury screen provided by PSS Physical Therapy, please register for a 30-minute time slot through your TCSP member portal similar to a program registration. There will be up to 2 other individuals signed up for each slot, and screenings will take place according to arrival time at the facility, so there may be a wait. These injury screens are free but are limited to one per person every six months unless a new injury has occurred.
