4.0+ Player Expectations
TCSP uses the following criteria to define the average 4.0 & 4.5 player:
- Groundstroke Skills: 4.0-4.5 players should be able to rally as follows:
- 8-12 balls on a 78′ full court with standard yellow ball at a medium to fast pace.
- Players can change direction of the ball at a medium to fast pace with both FH & BH.
- Players can hit both FH & BH with both topspin and slice.
- Players use two different grips on FH & BH 90% of the time.
- Players can control shape of the ball with height an depth more than 75% of the time.
- Players have mobility to cover the court at a high-level or with
- Net Play:
- Players volley with confidence and use Continental grip at least 75% of the time.
- Players understand movement patterns to attack and defend at net.
- Players are comfortable signaling and can poach intentionally.
- Players can transition from baseline to net using a variety of shots including slice among other means.
- Serving:
- Players can put more than 60% of 1st serves (fast pace) into play.
- 2nd serve is 80% dependable to start play.
- Players impart slice/kick on 90% of all serves;
- Players can place serve into service box in at least 3 different locations.
- Tactics:
- Players have established themselves as a certain playstyle:
- Aggressive baseliner
- Defensive baseliner
- Big Server
- All-court player
- Players can execute tactics in match play and understand when to attack or defend.
- Players utilize the lob and drop shot effectively in singles and doubles play.
- Players are comfortable using other tactics and 4-5 different doubles formations.
- Players have established themselves as a certain playstyle:
Ball Machine Clinic 2.0+
Ball Machine Clinics focus very heavily on groundstrokes and are designed to help define the shape of your swing as well as work on footwork patterns.
- Learn to hit defensively and offensively while incorporating both topspin and slice on your FH and BH.
- Refine your use of the Continental grip effectively for lobs, drop shots and drives for versatility.

Boot Camp
Boot Camp classes are designed for serious players dedicated to elevating their game to the next level. Boot Camp is for players rated 3.5 thru 5.0 who are looking for a hybrid of cardio and strength-conditioning, combined with fast-paced situational drilling, run very much like a college tennis team practice.
Players must notify instructors of any health issues before starting the class and, if necessary, provide a doctor’s note regarding physical activity limitations.

Cardio Tennis
Cardio Tennis is a high-energy fitness activity that combines the best features of the sport of tennis with cardiovascular exercise; delivering the ultimate, full-body, calorie-burning, aerobic workout.
- Drills and circuits get the maximum out of players without the competitive pressure of playing against peers.
- This is about the individual workout, while bonding and making new playing partners for life! You should expect to run and sweat for at least 75% of the 75 minute class.
Players must notify instructors of any health issues before starting the class and, if necessary, provide a doctor’s note regarding physical activity limitations.

Live Ball 3.5+
Live Ball is all about the moment. It’s about enjoying a sport that we all have a passion for. Players of all varieties come out to play but there is one common thread: Everyone shows up ready to squeeze out every ounce of tennis they have in 75 minutes.
Live Ball 3.5 is a rating-restricted clinic for TCSP members rated 3.5 to 4.0. Players can expect to play a lot of situational point play under the direction of a coach. Player requirements:
- Rally 7-10 balls with directional control to be effective.
- Ability to defend the forward position at net and volley offensively when opportunities present themselves at net.
Live Ball Etiquette:
- Players will treat one another with respect & kindness on and off the court.
- Players will encourage and be positive towards other players.
- Players will participate in drills with control and with player safety top of mind.
- Players will participate in Live Ball from start to finish including warm-ups and ball pick-ups.
- Players will respect the coaches and follow their instructions.
- Players will play within the rules of the game or drill as set forth by the coach(es).
- Players will not coach or instruct other players while participating in drills.
- Players will be considerate when calling lines and not try to win at all costs.
- Players will track score accurately on their respective court’s game supporting the coaches in maintaining accuracy.
- Players will rotate in and out of drills expediently to maintain the flow of the drills.
- Players will use best efforts when participating at all times to help everyone on the court improve their tennis.
- Players will not tank points or appear to not take point play and cooperative play seriously.

Tactics 4.0 Singles
Tactics for 4.0 Singles players is designed to put you in singles match play situations and give you the tools needed to compete. 4.0 Players are expected to be able to rally a minimum of 12-15 balls with strong directional control at a medium to fast pace.
Learn how to understand the flow of point construction, when to play high-percentage vs. low-percentage shots, how to beat various playing styles while learning how to play those same styles. Aggressive baseline players vs Serve & Volley or Net Attackers… which style are you?

45-Minute Workouts
45-minute workouts are a great high-energy fitness activity that each focus on specific attributes for your game. Make the most out of your lunch break!
- Groundstroke Grind- 45 minutes of groundstrokes to build consistency and feel the burn!
- Serve Doctor- Fine tune your serve and add another weapon to your game!
- Net Footwork- Get comfortable at the net to take your doubles and singles games to the next level!
- Drill-N-Sweat- Combines point play and drilling for a high intensity workout
