An ambitious 12-year-old girl was accepted into the elite High Performance Junior Program under director Brian Park’s leadership when TCSP’s doors opened in 2013. Today she is a confident 17-year-old senior at Holy Names Academy: Anna Miller.
There was nothing easy about a 12-year-old girl primarily hitting against high school boys, but with the support of her parents and a team of tough coaches, the months turned into years and Anna held her ground on the court and stared down the intimidation with dedicated, hard work.
We have had the privilege of watching Anna grow into the capable and amazing young woman she is today. We have witnessed not only her tennis tenacity but her empathetic and willing spirit to help others along her journey. Anna served as a Hits for Health Ambassador, stirring support for cancer research within her Holy Names community and spent a month in Barcelona away from all family, working out and hitting balls for 8 hours a day. Anna brings a sense of responsibility well beyond her years to every day. It is not surprising she will be continuing her love of tennis playing Division 3 tennis at Swarthmore College in Philadelphia next year.Off the court Anna will pursue Swarthmore’s Biology program, Peace and Conflict studies and Social Justice interests.
Anna tells us no matter what your goal is, be ready for the sweat and dig deep- never give up! The end product of that passion turns pain into strength and dedication into relentless ability. Anna added: “I wanted to thank my coaches for believing in me and pushing me to the best I can be, and I want to thank TCSP and all it’s staff for creating such an amazing environment and opportunity for all players.”
