MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:
ANNA MILLER
|
An ambitious 12-year-old girl was accepted into the elite High Performance Junior Program under director Brian Park’s leadership when TCSP’s doors opened in 2013. Today she is a confident 17-year-old senior at Holy Names Academy: Anna Miller.
There was nothing easy about a 12-year-old girl primarily hitting against high school boys, but with the support of her parents and a team of tough coaches, the months turned into years and Anna held her ground on the court and stared down the intimidation with dedicated, hard work.
We have had the privilege of watching Anna grow into the capable and amazing young woman she is today. We have witnessed not only her tennis tenacity but her empathetic and willing spirit to help others along her journey. Anna served as a Hits for Health Ambassador, stirring support for cancer research within her Holy Names community and spent a month in Barcelona away from all family, working out and hitting balls for 8 hours a day. Anna brings a sense of responsibility well beyond her years to every day. It is not surprising she will be continuing her love of tennis playing Division 3 tennis at Swarthmore College in Philadelphia next year.Off the court Anna will pursue Swarthmore’s Biology program, Peace and Conflict studies and Social Justice interests.
Anna tells us no matter what your goal is, be ready for the sweat and dig deep- never give up! The end product of that passion turns pain into strength and dedication into relentless ability. Anna added: “I wanted to thank my coaches for believing in me and pushing me to the best I can be, and I want to thank TCSP and all it’s staff for creating such an amazing environment and opportunity for all players.”

YONEX IS HERE AT DTS PRO SHOP: The process is everything. Through intensive research and development into each product we make, we are constantly evolving to help improve your tennis experience. Three-time Grand Slam Champion Angelique Kerber visited the #Yonex factories in Japan to see how her racquet and strings are made #YonexQuality#YonexTennis#FarBeyondOrdinary
WILSON CLASH: The new Wilson Clash 100 and the Clash 100 Tour have been in hot demand.TCSP has a shipment coming on March 26. We are accepting orders in advance for all Wilson Clash frames.
RICHARDS CHOICE: “Richard’s Choice” is the new preferred hybrid string job in Seattle. What is it? Jeff Richards, Wilson Ad Staff member, created a blend of Luxilon Natural Gut on the main strings, and Solinco Tour Bite 20 gauge on the crosses. Jeff strings his Wilson Clash Tour 100 at a tension of 60 lbs on the Natural Gut, and 57 lbs on the Tour Bite. Jeff loves the feel of the Natural Gut, and he creates more bite on the ball with the super thin 20 gauge poly on the crosses. Just ask for “Richard’s Choice” on the string form and you will be able to experience what helps Jeff have great success.
RACQUET STRINGER NEEDED: Dickson’s Tennis Services, located at TCSP, is taking applications for employment as a “Racquet Stringer”. Training is available, enthusiasm is the key. Send a request for consideration to dd@dicksonstennis.com. Hours are flexible, and starting date can depend upon experience and knowledge of the skill.
SHOES AND CLOTHES! Shoe shipments have arrived. Nike, Wilson, K-Swiss, Babolat, & Asics, have all arrived at once to the pro shop. We also have the largest selection of Junior Tennis shoes. Clothing Sale started this month with a large collection of tennis ware being offered at a 75% discount.

TCSP is happy to partner with the local non-profit, Sports in Schools, to be a collection site for 15-year old or newer tennis racquets for their use in teaching tennis to under-resourced middle school students (ages 11-13). They will collect all size racquets 25″ or greater in length with strings or without. This racquet collection drive will last from now until May 31st so bring in your old racquet and feel good about it being put to use in the future! If you have any questions about this program please contact Sports in Schools Program Director Christina Broadwin at 510-710-1731 or Christina@sportsinschools.org.
