Makenzie grew up in Yakima, Washington and therefore has a love for freshly grown fruits, especially apples, cherries, and peaches. She attended college at Point Loma Nazarene University down in San Diego, California to soak up some sun and study psychology before moving to Seattle, Washington. She is currently pursuing her masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at Seattle Pacific University.

Makenzie’s tennis experience includes serving as the team captain for her high school tennis team for two years, going to state three years in a row for women's doubles, as well as winning the state team title in 2013. Makenzie also saw the need for tennis to be more accessible to girls in her community, so she created and hosted her own girls tennis camp. Since high school, she has won intramurals in college, coached tennis at Green Lake, and occasionally you will see her on court at TCSP with her spirit animal, Lori Slavin-Conroy.
